Welcome to Special Care Baby
. .

.

.

Born in October 2007, Special Care Baby Ltd is a Scottish Registered Charity. Our fundraising activities are for the benefit of Scottish hospitals of which there are currently 16 with neonatal specialist care facilities. We aim to secure new and vital equipment for these units. Some of the most amazing work is done by people who receive little thanks and it's for them as much as for the babies and their families that the decision was made to become a Scottish charity, rather than remaining an anonymous mum who did a bit of fundraising. The first seeds were planted when I went into early labour in August 2007 with my twins. I was 31 weeks and 5 days pregnant and the labour ward at St Johns Hospital had decided that it might be time for the babies to come. Their cut off point for receiving labouring mums is 32 weeks because they don't have intensive care facilities as they lost funding some years ago for this type of care.

Our Vision-

Helping Scotland get stronger as a nation, by helping the newest generations get the care and attention they need during their first and toughest ever challenge - The fight for life

Programmes and Activities-

We are co-ordinating various fundraising projects throughout the year starting with a small race night in a local pub. This will be followed by a charity dinner evening in September this year and tickets are still available. Our charitable objectives are: Our local aim is to raise funds for the Special Care Baby Unit at St Johns Hospital in Livingston and we are committed to aiding these units across Scotland in raising funds and funding increased staff levels. To aid in preventing little, tiny people lfrom needing to be transferred hundreds of miles away from their new families in order to get the support and round the clock care that they need.  To help others raise funds for their local hospitals' Special Care Baby Units or Neonatal Intensive Care Units. To provide assistance to corporate institutes in organising and implementing fundraising events aimed at helping any of the above units. All activities relating directly or indirectly towards promoting the health and welfare of premature and special care babies!
